Hi André E.,

Would you or anyone you know consider a remote Sitecore opportunity? If so, what are your requirements?

Thanks,

Rajive D.

Hi Rajive,

Thank you for reaching out to me.

Yes, I would be interested in a remote Sitecore opportunity. However, I am not a Sitecore developer. I am a certified Sitecore user.

I also am a developer so I understand developer needs, I am just not a Sitecore developer.

What I as a user would need is a remote connection to developing and staging servers. (I expect a DTSP street: separate servers for Developing, Testing, Staging, and Production.) Now with most Sitecore changes a normal internet connection suffices, and I could do my work using Sitecore's web admin console. I would need neither file system access nor access to the IIS (Microsoft Internet Information Server).

A developer who rolls out programming libraries and plug-ins will need access to the actual file system, preferably via Remote Desktop or VNC.

An engineer who performs integrations and installations, and migrations between the DTSP stages also needs access to the machines' file systems and perhaps the IIS.

From an employer who seeks to employ me via remote I expect a reimbursement for the professional use of my internet connection, as well as a handful of internet-connected devices to test the results of my work: a Windows laptop (the Microsoft Surface Pro, for instance), an iOS tablet, and an Android phone.

Developers would need a licensed copy of MS Visual Studio, with the Sitecore developing libraries (SDK) installed. I expect the employer to pay for that.

I also expect that the employer contracts a mobile device testing center for extensive usability testing.

Furthermore, there should exist a tested and working way for me and my colleagues to have meetinngs online, one that does not require me to lower the security of my home network.

Does that help?

Thank you,
André.
