Opera SA too shows the visually impaired that it ignores their needs. Who needs to use the internet anyway, if they're blind?

Accessibility for the visually impaired on MS Windows is still an issue for the latest version of the Opera web browser, 10.61. It has been for several versions.

Try it:

1. Enable High Contrast mode (shift-alt-prtsc) and set Windows to use its classic High Contrast Black theme.

2. Now try configuring Opera Speed Dial, use any of the buttons or tabs on any of Opera's windows, set your search engines, read or write e-mail, use DragonFly, or chat.

Have fun!

If you set Windows to employ the High Contrast Black theme WITHOUT enabling High Contrast Mode (yes, it's still a Microsoft product), more and more of Opera becomes unusable.

Updates

Sunday, November 14, 2010:
Opera 11 Alpha shows no signs of improvement on this specific issue. It does show other improvements.

Wednesday, August 3, 2011:
We find Opera 12 equally lacking in most interface parts, except for Opera DragonFly. As far as we've seen, it's fully usable even when a white-on-black-theme is selected for Windows. Currently using Windows 7, turned off all the fancy Aero stuff, and installed our own white-on-black theme. Some interface parts like pop-ups now take our yellow menu text and put it on a white background. Talk about a mismatch of system and custom colours.
