Pantheon Online Games will store some information while you traverse the game world, play the games, participate in the activities, change your profile and avatar, and with lots of other actions. This article explains what it is we store, why we store it, and what we intend to do with it.
When you log in...
We register:
- Who you are
- What date and time you logged in
- Your IP Address
- What browser you use
- What plug-ins your browser can handle
We use this information to understand who logs in at what times, how often, and what kind of equipment they use. From this information we can optimize our service: both the availability of our servers and the quality of the web pages and games you receive from us.
It is possible that Law Enforcement will want to review this information every now and then. We are always happy to obey the law. If you don't want your information viewed by Law Enforcement, don't register.
When you logged in is also shown in your public profile (Akashic Records). Other members will be able to view this information and conclude whether or not you are around.
When you traverse the game world...
We register:
- Where you go
- What date and time you went there
- How long you stayed around
We use this information to understand which parts of our game world attract most attention. From this, we intend to extrapolate which parts benefit most from real-time support, which parts should be overhauled, and where we can and should not place advertisements.
Where you go is also noted in your public profile (Akashic Records). Other members can view your this information and find out where you are. If they wish to meet you, a quick click on the hyperlink will teleport them to a near location... provided your location is accessible to them.
When you play games or participate in activities...
We register:
- In what game or activity you participate
- How often you've participated in the same activity
- How often you've completed it succesfully
- Which step in the activity workflow you reached
- The date and time at which you reached that step
- How long you stayed at that same step before going off to do something else
- How much Grace you have received for that activity thus far
- How much Bonus you will receive upon succesful completion
- What honours (certificates or medals) you have received upon succesful completion
We use this information to understand how difficult members find the different parts of activities, and thus calculate whether the amount of Grace and Bonus attached to succesful completion is fair or needs adjusting. We can also use it to notice problems in the activity flow: if no-one ever reaches the next step in an activity, something might need correcting.
Which activities you've participated in and which honours you have received, will also be noted in your public profile (Akashic Records), for other members to see. This is done in two different ways:
- From your activities and honours, the last 25 will be shown to other members. You and the site administrators can view the rest.
- From your achievements we will calculate your experience in the game world. Once you've gained enough experience, we will allow you to start changing the world.
When you participate in the forums and chat rooms...
We register:
- Which forum, discussion thread, or chat room you visit
- At what date and time you visited these
- How long you stayed around before visiting something else
- What messages you post
- What files you attach to your posts
This information we use to watch your behaviour. Yes, we're being Big Brother here. In some parts of the forums and chat rooms, adult behaviour is allowed, while in others, child-safe behaviour is required. We will have staff online to make sure everyone plays by the rules.
When we see interesting discussions in the chat rooms, we might copy them from the archives and post them in the forums or use them to confront you with your behaviour. Otherwise, the archives get destroyed.
We will also use this information to find out which parts of our servers might need more speed or storage space, and whether our caching policy needs adjusting.
Exception: when participating in an adult chat room (which is allowed for members whose age is verified by the required credit card money transfer), your posts will not be archived. Instead, you will sign an agreement that says you can and will behave.
When you register to become a member...
We register:
- Your name
- The name you wish to assume inside our game world
- Your e-mail address (private contact information)
- A hash of your password -- meaning we won't be able to read nor retrieve your password (but we can reset it)
- What religious path you wish to follow inside our game world
- The way your avatar looks (it's a small doll-like character that represents you inside our game world)
- The way your public profile (Akashic Records) looks
- How people can contact you, if at all (public contact information)
- How many posts you wish to see per page, in a discussion thread in the forums
- Your time zone
- Your IP Address
- Your birth date (adulthood is confirmed by credit card check)
- And maybe more if we deem it appropriate
We use most of this information to identify you to us and to other members. We use part of this information to set your view of the forums and chat rooms. And yet another part of this information is used to set everyone's view of your public profile (Akashic Records)... and on everyone's view of those places in the game world where you've been. Which means that if you pass through a location, it adapts to the colours and styles of your profile.
We also use this information in case you need your password reset, and in case you wish to sign up for adult chat and adult parts of the game world.
Your private contact information is meant for us to contact you. No-one but you and us will see it. Your public contact information will be shown on your public profile (Akashic Records), where other members can review it and use it to contact you.
We do not intend to sell your information, but we might use it to offer personalised advertisements.
When you become a member of, or leave a group...
We register:
- Which group
- At what date and time
- Who invited you when + their reason
- Why you left (in case you did)
This information we use to find out who belongs to which groups, which we will probably use to offer personalised advertisements. Apart from that, it will be noted in your public profile (Akashic Records), for other members to review. Only the last 25 groups will be visible to other members. The rest will be visible to you and the site administrators only.
More?
Possibly. We'll publish it here, when we know it ourselves!
